1. Playing UFO Watch

Windows: run ufo.exe

Linux: run 'ufo'. Or from a terminal session, change to the directory where Ufo Watch is installed, and type "./ufo"

The object of the game is to destroy the flying saucers before the time runs out. You lose points every time a human is abducted. You also lose points depending on the number of shots fired, and the time it takes to destroy the ufos.

2. Configuring UFO Watch

Command line parameters:

Keys: (used in the game)

Cfg file:

All other configuration info is stored in UFO.CFG, in the following order:

-----
1 : Sound setting (0,1)
100 : * Speed setting
0 : * Speed setting (0-4)
9 : Human colour scheme (0-255)
13
12
10
14
-----

The first speed setting and the five human colour scheme values should be the only thing you need the modify. The rest are modified by the program.

* Speed settings are now obsolete. Ignore these values.

3. Problems

The files should be set up as followed:

alleg40.dll
hiscore.dat
title.png
ufo
ufo.cfg
ufo.exe
ufo.ico
ufowatch.htm
ufo1.dat
ufo2.dat

upic > coins.pcx
       coins2.pcx
       loadin.pcx
       ufo1.pcx
       ufo2.pcx
       ufo4.pcx
       ufo8.pcx

usnd > expl.voc
       launch.voc
       scream.voc
       smash.voc
       whree.voc

The game may not work properly if any of these files are missing.

Linux version: requires Glibc 2.3 to run (ie RedHat 8+, Mandrake 9+, SuSE 8.1+)
If this is a problem, you may wish to download and compile the source code (requires Allegro games library).

Source code available from the website (see #5).
